Parallel Flow Device

METTOP has developed collaboratively with Montanwerke Brixlegg AG a Parallel Flow Device (PFD), which introduces the fresh electrolyte between each electrode pair. Special positioning devices, termed cathode spacers, provide accurate electrode positioning, namely precise positioning of the cathode in relation to the electrolyte inlet nozzle. The nozzles, which are designed for each individual tankhouse, direct the fresh electrolyte upward onto the cathode surface, which only enhances the already existing flow resulting from natural convection. Thereby, settlement of the anode slime is not influenced by using the METTOP-BRX-Technology. The PFDs are customer-tailored to guarantee optimum results for each individual tankhouse.
